A 26th-place finish despite a crash: After a good start at the Grand Prix of San Marino in Misano (Italy), the 12th race of the Moto3 World Championship, last weekend, Germany’s Toni Finsterbusch had to make do with a 26th-place in the rankings.
At the beginning of the race Finsterbusch worked his way up to a 17th position, scoring faster lap times than in the practice sessions. But due to the crash he then lost places. This is why the 20-year-old from Saxony was not really happy with his performance in Misano: “This is really annoying. I realized that it was hard getting closer to the riders right in front of me in my group. And when I pushed again I slipped on the front wheel after accelerating out of turn 4. Thus the race was practically over but unfortunately the bike was still running and not broken, I was at least able to resume the race.”
The 12th World Championship race was once again dominated by the Spanish pilots. Alex Rins took the victory ahead of his compatriots Maverick Viñales and Alex Marquez. Luis Salom is currently heading the World Championship overall rankings with 246 points to his credit.
With the season’s finish in mind, Toni Finsterbusch is now fully concentrating on the next World Championship race in Aragon, Spain, on 29th September.
